While waiting for our meal

My Sir and My Girl had clam chowder

The waitress was surprise finding out who ordered this huge meal. Of course some was take home.

Guso!

Our family friend came back from a short vacation in Bohol, Philippines. She brought some seaweed, and gave us some. I love seaweed especially this kind. This is commonly called "guso" back home. This isn't fresh, but the dried one.

I soak a hand full of this in water overnight.

It is prepared, mixed with chopped tomato, onion, and ginger, seasoned with vinegar, salt and pepper, and coconut milk. Here in the USA , I substitute it with a teaspoon of mayonnaise, since fresh squeeze coconut milk is hard to find.

YUMMY!!!

Imperial Pattern Tiger Lily Amethyst Glass

My latest thrift store find is an Imperial Glass Pattern Tiger Lily Amethyst pitcher, and tumbler set. It is about 8.5 inches in height and will fill up to 48 oz. liquid.

I don't know exactly if the plate is part of the set, but it is in the same color, and they looked good together.

See?
They are perfect to be together!

The six tumblers in perfect vintage condition.

The bottom of the tumbler had a S logo.

The bottom of the pitcher has great details as well.

In mint condition, no cracks. I only wished that there are eight tumblers instead of six, but I'll find the two one of these days. *crossing my fingers.

What's your treasure find for the week?

My Best Ever Valentines Present

I was working a 12-hour shift this year's Valentines' Day. I came home around 8 p.m., so tired, and already hungry. As I opened the garage door into the house, a wonderful aroma welcomed me. I couldn't believe my eyes as I came into the kitchen.
To my surprise --it was my dear husband in the kitchen --my sir!
My "SIR CHEF"!
Tadah!

Of course my girl welcomed me with this too -- a Valentines Day card, her sweetest smile, and her red nails. big grin

Dinner was served minutes later.
YES!

My SIR CHEF was serving:
Vegetable Soup (from Ralph's)

Main Course:
Baked Rosette Potatoes
Boneless Rib-eye Steak
Sauteed Mushroom, and Steamed Asparagus

We had red and white wine, and sparkling cider for our drinks. No picture for the bevs because the photographer was starving. Hehehehe!
Ooops, we also had sliced oranges from Rosa Pettit's garden from Modesto.

I never knew my Sir can cook! Love you Papa, now also known as my "SIR CHEF"!

I got flowers too!

So how was your Valentines Day?

NOTE: In our family, we have special names for each other. Like my husband, my siblings and in-laws fondly calls him "Sir", and I lovingly call him "My Sir".

A Visitor for a month

She came to visit us last February 2,2013.

... and then to the next house on March 2, 2013.

New Year 's Eve Dinner

This year was different. I need to sleep early and be alert at work New Year's Day. I cooked a simple dinner instead. While years back I had prepared a handful of deserts, set the table and wait for the clock to strike 12:00 AM as while watching the countdown in TV.

Shrimp
 mash potatoes ( Jya's order)
 Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo (Pep's order)
 Beef Roast

Since I cook, somebody has to do the dishes! Thank you Pa and Jya!

We had Cheese Cake from Ralph's and fruits for deserts. Quick to prepare for a busy  and sick Mama ! Hahahha!

Weekend Getaway

Harrah's Casino Rincon was our destination Saturday afternoon. This is located at an Indian reservation towards San Diego. While my hubby's mom enjoy slot machines, my Sir likes roulette, I like to wander around a gift shop.

I was thinking if I buy one of these huge blings, do I have a guts to wear them. I guess not. But sure I had fun while my daughter and hubby model for me.
